SIERRA CANTABRIA ORGANZA RIOJA 2018

THE WINE:

Sierra Cantabria Organza is a classic riojan blend white wine, containing the varieties viura, malvasía and grenache blanc. The grapes come from the wineries own vineyards situated in San Vincente de la Sonsierra, in the Rioja Alta. The vinyards are cultivated in an ecological manner which is respectful to the environment. Infact, the Sierra Cantabria does not use chemical products, only organic fertilizers every 2 years.

TASTING NOTES:

It’s easy to forget that the Eguren brothers make white wines, such is the quality of their reds, but no one should be in a hurry to overlook this cuvée of Viura with 25% Malvasía and 15% Garnacha Blanca, barrel-fermented in French oak and then aged on its lees for 11 months. Chalky, refreshing and textured with citrus and tangerine flavours and stonyminerality. A comparative bargain. Drink date: 2021-2025. Score – 95. THE WINERY:

Marcos Eguren, as winemaker, and Miguel Eguren, as general manager, overview a project committed to the searching of wines that evoke the vineyard, of great versatility and remarkable personality. Guillermo, father of Marcos and Miguel, both currently running the project, names himself as a vine collector. And his sons have embraced his principles and have endorsed with passion the excellence in the grape growing and the full respect of the fruit in the winemaking process as our philosophy to obtain wines of utmost purity and terroir’s reflection.
