CHATEAU GRAND CORBIN MANUEL 2015

THE WINE:

The 2015 Grand Corbin Manuel is a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon matured in 60% new oak. It has a fresh, classic Saint Emilion bouquet, very fresh and delineated, attractive sous-bois aromas emerging with time.

TASTING NOTES:

Wine Advocate-Saint Emilion- Bordeaux “Plum pastries with violets and spiced blueberry fruits. The palate has impressive plushness and rich, fleshy appeal. Long finish” the round and ample attack evolves over a generous well-built structure.

THE WINERY:

As you can probably guess from the name, Chateau Grand Corbin Manuel was once part of the original Grand Corbin estate. Interestingly, Chateau Grand Corbin Manuel was created in 1855, the same year as the original classification, when the land was separated from the Grand Corbin vineyards.

The de Gaye family continues to manage with daughter Yseult de Gaye Nony in charge of Chateau Grand Corbin Manuel. The de Gaye family owns two other Bordeaux chateaux, Saint-Barbe, Bordeaux Superieur and La Creation.

The 7 hectare vineyard of Chateau Grand Corbin Manuel is planted to 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are old, with an average age of 35 to 40 years. The terroir is sand and clay soils. The vines are planted to a density of 6,600 vines per hectare.
